Daniel Jean Rinault video and shoot

by Tom Stubbs
8 January 2010

Daniel Jean Rinault-jumpingMore French business. Just shot a video for the next big thing in French Rocka Billy, Daniel Jean Rinault. The burgeoning rocking scene in London might just love a bit of DJR. (Did you know there was one?).Daniel has been performing literally every night in The Marathon bar and kebab shop in Camden for years. A music industry visionary has plucked him from NW1, recorded a track and given him to us, poor swine.

Daniel Jean Rinault - bins and overcoat
My colleague Jake Walters directed the video, which will all be about DJR’s frenetic performance, bright white and a clever rapid edit. We shot stills too. Daniel has quite a look going on. A fully intact quiff, a very good overcoat and a pair of patent white shoes. All I did was supply to too tight rock’n’roll pants, cutting edge jewellery by Toby McLellan and the ubiquitous eyewear by Persol. A sort of Eddie Cochran meets Skeletor look was achieved.

The new Doctor Who, Matt Smith turned up by accident, and we politely terrorised him. My he’s a good looking chap.

The video will be edited soon, and I will be sure to direct you straight to it. As soon as he’s sold a bunch of records, I’ll be sure to direct Daniel straight to the dentist.

    Good evening,
This publication reminds one very much of ‘The Chap’ soiree in print.
This is an excellent article with superb filming, though, may we see the great beauty of the Director, Mr Walters? In the final ‘cut’.
I believe he is the same person one has seen in another film entitled ‘The Gangster’?
    Many thanks & best wishes,
    Cawdor
