Venice Film Festival Opens

The 65th Venice Film festival started today with tonight’s premiere of The Coen Brothers’ new movie ‘Burn after Reading’ opening the proceedings in the elegant Sala Grande of the Palzzo del Cinema. Not one to avoid the cameras George Clooney arrived in Venice, down the Grand Canal, by speedboat to join his fellow cast members Brad Pitt, John Malkovich, Tilda Swinton and Frances McDormand at the festival. Despite the A-list line up ‘Burn After Reading’ will not be entering the competition to win the coveted Golden Lion, the award given to the top film of the festival. During the festival:
